The Wells College men's basketball team were defeated, 72-61, by Regis College in the opening game of the Second Annual Park Lodge Hotel Tournament hosted by Regis on Saturday afternoon in Weston, MA. Juan Paulino (Bronx, NY) finished with his second straight double-double (19 pts, 13 rebs) while Darrell Bullock (Chicago, IL) chipped in with 15-points.
The lead would change five times in the first half and Paulino would score 11 of his 19 points on five-of-five shooting to lead the Express into halftime down only by six points, 32-26.
The second half was a different story as Regis jumped out to a quick 13-point lead and never looked back. Wells would trim the lead to within nine with 1:03 left, but a series of fouls would close out any chance of a comeback for the Express.
With the loss Wells drops to 3-7 on the year and will await the loser of game two of the Second Annual Park Lodge Hotel Tournament between Elms College and Hobart College. Tip-Off for the consolation game is set for Sunday, January 4th at 4:00 pm at Regis.
