AURORA, N.Y. – Junior Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) led the way with 18 points for the Express, but the Wells College women's basketball team posted an 81-57 defeat to the Storm of Keuka College Saturday afternoon at the Frances Tarlton Farenthold Athletic Wing. With the loss, the Express conclude their third season as a varsity program with a 12-13 overall record and an 11-6 overall mark within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Storm improve to a conference-best 19-3 overall record and a 16-1 mark within league play.

In addition to her 18 total points, Roser posted 12 rebounds to rank first on the team in that category as well. Junior Kristen Ryan (Syracuse, N.Y.) ranked second on the squad with 15 total points, dialing in for a 5-for-8 clip from the floor. Roser also posted five total blocks while senior Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.), who celebrated Senior Day in a pre-game ceremony, tallied two steals.

Keuka led from start to finish, building a game-high 29 point lead in the game's final 2:08. Despite trailing at the half by a 44-21 margin, the Express battled the Storm in the second half, posting one point shy of the visitors. Keuka posted a 36-to-26 advantage in the paint and scored 30 points off of Express turnovers. The Express, however, held a 19-to-10 edge on second chance opportunities.

For Keuka, Jessica Bandrowski tallied 20 points for the Storm, burying 8-of-14 field goals to lead the team in that category. Mariah Mouzon secured her 1,000th career point in the late stages of the contest, becoming the 10th player in Storm history to reach that milestone. In the game, Mouzon scored 13 total points and also picked up a double-double, collecting 10 rebounds cumulatively.

The Express qualified for a spot in the NEAC Women's Basketball playoffs for the first time in program history with a 70-62 victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Feb. 2. Seedings have yet to be determined for the tournament, which will play out at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa.
