EXPRESS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON REVIEW

(AURORA, N.Y.)─ The Wells College Women's Basketball team completed their inaugural NCAA Division-III season posting a 4-21 record (4-18 North Eastern Athletic Conference). Under the guidance of Coach Mike O'Brien the Express immediately became a competitive team within the NEAC, narrowly missing out on road wins in the second and third games of the season. The Express would breakthrough with the program's first victory in their home opener, a thrilling come from behind win over Morrisville State on November 23, 2010.

Throughout the season the Wells Women's Basketball team built a reputation as a hard-working, never quitting team. Highlights of the season included wins over Wilson and Cazenovia Colleges and a heart-pounding 69-68 overtime victory over defending conference champion Penn St.-Berks. Led by freshmen captains Ashley Roser and Kristen Ryan the young Express have built the foundation for future success and a drive to reach the top of the NEAC.

For the year Roser led the NEAC in scoring (21.9 ppg), rebounds (13.7 rpg), blocks (3.36 bpg), and double-doubles (21). Her stats ranked her 7th (points), 10th (rebounds), 14th (blocks), and 3rd (double-doubles) nationally, helping her to earn 1st Team All-Conference and D-III News Freshman All-American. Kristen Ryan finished the year averaging 8.6 ppg. and ranking 10th in the NEAC in 3-pt field goal percentage and 13th in 3-pt field goals made.

Coach O'Brien is looking to build upon the team's inaugural season with an outstanding 2011-2012 campaign stating "We had so many positive achievements for a first year program, I look forward to working with our returning players, as well as a good group of incoming players next year.

The Wells College Women's Basketball Program has the unique ability to provide the opportunity to incoming players to make an immediate impact on the team and become a conference power within a short amount of time.  I am really excited about our program's potential to take the next step!"
